CARMEN JOHNSON TROPHY HISTORY    This is a “gross score” trophy.  In 1974 Carmen Johnson, GSWPGA President at the time, died of cancer while in office.   Laurine Law finished Carmen’s term as President and then went on to take the President’s position again in 1975.  Carmen was very active in the GSWPGA’s various committees and a great supporter of the GSWPGA! Kathy McAfee, a GSWPGA active member,  wanted to donate something in honor of Carmen and what she had done to promote our GSWPGA group.  Kathy thought it would be nice to show the club’s support in a trophy during the President’s Cup Tournament.  Since most all golf awards are given to the “Net” winners, Kathy wanted to donate a trophy for the “Low Gross” Winner during the “President’s Cup” tournament. The “Carmen Johnson Trophy” was approved by the GSWPGA Board in 1974 and Kathy donated it to our group in 1974.  This is a “Perpetual Trophy” in Carmen’s honor.
